This ‘non-surgical’ facelift is actually a non-invasive procedure suitable for the 35-55 year old age group, employing radiofrequency technology to tighten loose skin by using heat to shrink tissues and stimulate collagen growth.
It is also called the ‘Thermacool Facelift’ because it has a cooling spray to protect the surface skin. No anaesthesia or down time is required and the procedure takes between one and two hours to perform.

If controlled by an experienced and qualified doctor such as Dr Hodgkinson, then yes. The INFINI treatment is a TGA approved system and is well proven in the USA where it is FDA approved. Dr Hodgkinson would not adopt any new technology unless it had been guaranteed with an impressive safety record first. The safety of his patients is of paramount importance across every procedure.
This varies based on your goals, but the average number is often three treatments, especially if they suffer from acne. That being said, some patients will only require one. Consecutive treatments can be performed as close as 3 or 4 weeks.
Depending on your needs, treatment can take about 45 minutes.
We encourage anyone interested in knowing more about how much any of our surgeries cost, to access our free information packs which contain up to date pricing information on your selected procedure. You can access those information packs here.
It is unlikely that your private health insurance will cover the INFINI treatment as skin tightening procedures are purely cosmetic and not deemed medically necessary. We will of course assess this during your consultation, however, this request is often purely for aesthetic improvements only. Exact pricing that is relevant for your specific procedure will be provided to you in your consultation.
Most patients find the highest amount of discomfort being areas which are over the bone, such as the forehead, Pain thresholds do vary, but most patients report no discomfort during the procedure.
The initial redness will subside very rapidly, with roughly 24-36 hours to resolve completely. This can vary per patient with some experiencing redness for a few days.
Dr Hodgkinson and his team are always on call to support you during your recovery process. The INFINI recovery time is minimal, and Dr Hodgkinson assures the safety of every patient during and after every procedure.
If you do experience adverse issues during your aftercare process, Dr Hodgkinson and his skilled team are on-hand to assist you whenever you need.
The use of fractional heating as opposed to bulk heating is what sets the INFINI apart from other devices. The needles are insulated and have variable depths meaning coagulation occurs for maximal collagen stimulation. This keeps the epidermis safely protected from the heat and allows for safe and effective treatment of all skin types.
Dr. Hodgkinson and his team, assures your safety during and after every procedure. If you should have any issues during your aftercare process, the team is on-hand to assist you at any point.
Dr Hodgkinson will provide an in-depth consultation to determine the best path forward to address your concerns.
It is unlikely that anti-wrinkle injections will be covered under an insurance policy as only those deemed medically necessary are eligible for a rebate. While our team can assess this during your consultation, in most cases, this request is for aesthetic improvements only. We will provide exact pricing for the procedure in your consultation.
Anti-wrinkle injections are temporary, usually lasting for several months, at which point the procedure can be performed again. An ideal time frame for the procedure is every three to six months to ensure a continuous youthful appearance.
This is a common myth that anti-wrinkle injections create a stiff face. There will be some visible results immediately after the treatment, but a frozen look is not one of them.
There are no known permanent side effects that have been discovered over the years of anti-wrinkle injection use. Temporary effects may include tenderness and bruising of the treated area. In very rare cases there may be temporary eye problems such as double or blurred vision, drooping or swollen eyelids, or dry eyes; but it is important to note that no patient of Dr. Hodgkinson’s has ever experienced these issues and less than 2% of people worldwide have experienced them at the hands of other surgeons.
There may be an allergic reaction such as itching, rashes, dizziness or feeling faint, which should disappear within the first 48 hours.

If performed by an experienced and qualified doctor, yes. These injections are very popular as they can be performed in a matter of minutes, with the patient seeing a benefit that lasts for several months. Note: a doctor can only order the injectables used for these procedures, and the manufacturers and the medical community does not endorse it in a party environment.
To ensure a quick and safe recovery, keep the area clean to avoid a risk of infection with a salt mouth rinse. Try to keep your hands and any heavy pressure off of the area for around two weeks, as well as vigorous exercise, excessive sun or heat for the first few days after treatment to ensure the best results.
Try to avoid scheduling an appointment if you have a cold sore or skin irritation around the lip area and also avoid treatment two weeks in advance of any engagement where you will be worried about your appearance. Retinol A products should be avoided one week before and after lip treatment, as should anticoagulant medication such as aspirin which thins the blood.
The main criteria that will exempt you from lip treatment is if you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have any kind of auto-immune disorder or immunodeficiency. If you suffer from severe allergies or an adverse reaction to Dermal Fillers, this may make this treatment unsuitable for you.
The answer to this question really depends upon your desired result and the quality of your skin. Hydration is different for everyone’s lips, and regular treatments are often required. The frequency which will obtain the best results for you will be more apparent during your consultation and after your first session. It will also depend on the kind of Dermal Filler used as they can last between 6-12 months. If you are looking to maintain your results, regular sessions will be required.

As all patients experience differing levels of pain it can be difficult to say; however, we take the highest level of care possible to ensure that our lip enhancement process is as comfortable for you as possible. If your pain tolerance is low, a topical anaesthetic may be applied to the lip area to provide an extra level of comfort.
It is common to experience mild swelling or bruising as the lips feature very delicate skin. This will, however, subside within 3-5 days. You may also notice some small lumps in the treatment area, which is also normal and will soften in time.
Your lips will swell slightly immediately after treatment, and as this subsides over the next few days, the actual result of the treatment will become evident.
As there are various Dermal Fillers options to consider, we will work with you to find the right option based on your goals, be they;
- Enhanced volume
- Improved definition
- Softer lip lines
- Smoother lip body
The lip treatment best for your individual needs will be decided during your consultation once we have a fuller understanding of the look you are hoping for. It will also depend on the current state of your lips and how much they have thinned.
Lip augmentation can target different areas of the lips. Accentuating the lip border helps to create definition and shape, and we can also target the main body of the upper and lower lip to create volume and fullness. The particular process will be dependent on the look you are hoping to achieve. Dr. Hodgkinson will work with you to find an improvement that is noticeable but natural.
Are your lips thinning and causing you to feel less confident in your appearance? Speak to Dr. Hodgkinson today about fuller lips.
Dermal Fillers in gel form are injected into the lips and feature a naturally occurring sugar which helps to enhance and rejuvenate the lips. The sugar chain within the gel gives a plumping, smoothing, and hydrating effect to the lips which presents a more youthful and natural appearance.
If you are looking to enhance and alter the appearance of your lips, then you are likely a good candidate for lip augmentation. The goal of this procedure is often to create a natural aesthetic with definition and character. Most patients wish to avoid lips that look unnatural or unsymmetrical when compared with the rest of the face.
Many facial wrinkles occur when we use our muscles to form facial expressions. The wrinkles formed during these expressions are called dynamic wrinkles. For example, when we smile our eye wrinkles become prominent and when we frown the vertical lines between our eyebrows become noticeable.
When we are young our skin springs back to its initial position after facial expressions, but as we get older dynamic wrinkles remain on the skin to form static wrinkles; these are the wrinkles and folds that are present at rest. This process occurs because natural substances such as collagen (the major structural protein in the skin), elastin (the protein that causes tissue to stretch) and hyaluronic acid (which gives skin volume) decrease with age. This, together with environmental factors such as exposure to sunlight, smoking and stress all contribute to the creation of wrinkles and folds.
Acne scarring usually occurs during the teenage years and, with age, worsens as the skin progressively loses its elasticity. Chemical peels will lighten the colour of your skin and remove freckles or age spots but will not improve scarring.
For acne scarring, we can utilise other resurfacing techniques such as dermabrasion, Erbium or carbon dioxide laser treatment. Unfortunately, as a side effect of trying to improve the scarring, resurfacing procedures may lighten the skin pigment permanently. Dermabrasion, using newer, highspeed air-driven diamond burrs, improves the scarring with less likelihood of a permanent skin colour change than the laser.
All resurfacing procedures usually require two to three sessions to achieve the optimal result. Ten to 14 days are needed to recuperate from resurfacing. The skin is still pink and due to its sensitivity needs protection from the sun for up to six to ten weeks. Make-up and sunscreen must be used fastidiously during the healing process to protect the newly resurfaced skin.
Chemical peels are effective if the skin is splotchy and freckled or has age spots. A milder peel using alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) is an office procedure where the skin stings for about ten minutes. Mild skin flaking occurs for the next seven days.
If you have more accumulated skin damage or the brown pigmented “pregnancy mask”, then a deeper trichloroacetic acid (TCA) peel would be more suitable. This usually requires a light anaesthetic.
You will need seven to ten days off work as the healing process strips off the skin and leaves new, pink skin underneath. Makeup and sunscreen protection is required for six to ten weeks after the procedure.
I have found that patients often find chemical peeling very gratifying and are usually keen to protect their new skin with sunscreen.

The effects from your anti-wrinkle injection should last between four to six months. However, if your body metabolises the substance quickly or if too little toxin has been applied, then the effects may fade after two to three months.
What Are The Long-Term Effects Of Injecting A Poison Into Your Body?
There are no known long-term side effects from anti-wrinkle injections. It is worth noting that the injectable is not a “poison”, rather a medical grade purified protein.
For spider veins on the face—usually around the cheeks and nose—we use the KTP laser which is very successful at removing these unattractive blemishes. Further skin damage, usually from wind and sun will result in the reappearance of these veins and the laser therapy will have to be repeated.
No anaesthesia is needed for this laser treatment. The patient wears special goggles during treatment to protect the eyes. The cosmetic surgeon traces out these small veins with a laser light which obliterates them. A laser session usually takes about half an hour. A second session may be needed.
When the skin peels off, it is very similar to some animals that strip their skin, like a snake and there is new skin underneath.
As we age and we experience sun damage, which causes “browning” of the skin, “splotchiness” of the skin and fine lines, this gives one an aged appearance.
Stripping off the fine lines and the discolouration gives the skin a nice, fresher look and the rejuvenated look and enhanced complexion makes one look younger.
After the anti wrinkle injections wear off, usually in 3 to 6 months, the muscles do recover.
However, because the muscles have not been active for a long time, they usually do not recover to the same intensity as before you had the anti wrinkle injections.
This means that the facial muscles do still function, so you have normal expression but not with the intensity in the brow area that gives you the frowning and angry, unapproachable appearance that the scowling heavy muscles deliver to those with whom you are talking or communicating with.
More and more people are turning to Dr Hodgkinson and his team of Specialist Cosmetic Treatment Nurses at the Cosmetic & Restorative Surgery Clinic for rejuvenation techniques, to help their face reflect the way they feel inside.
One such rejuvenation technique is wrinkle relaxation treatment. It can be used to relax the specific facial muscles that cause upper facial lines (crow’s feet, forehead and glabellar frown lines) to form.
Wrinkle relaxation treatment involves a natural, purified protein that relaxes wrinkle-causing muscles, creating a rejuvenated appearance. The active ingredient in wrinkle relaxation treatment is derived from bacteria in much the same way penicillin is derived from mould. It is manufactured in sterile laboratory conditions.
The treatment is a prescription-only medicine and treatment is only available from a qualified medical professional such as Dr Hodgkinson and his team. It is registered for the treatment of crow’s feet (the lines that radiate from the corner of your eye when you smile or squint), forehead lines (the horizontal lines that form when you raise your eyebrows) and glabellar frown lines (the vertical lines that appear between your eyebrows when you frown).
How does wrinkle relaxation treatment work?
The treatment can be used to relax specific facial muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles (these are the wrinkles that are formed during facial expression). Once the muscles are relaxed, you cannot contract them and continue to make the undesirable facial expressions. Thus, the lines gradually smooth and new lines are prevented from forming.
What does wrinkle relaxation treatment involve?
Wrinkle relaxation treatment is a non-surgical procedure whereby a small amount of product is administered into selected facial muscles by Dr Hodgkinson or one of his staff specialists using a very fine needle. Generally, the treatment takes around 10 -15 minutes. At the Cosmetic& Restorative Surgery Clinic we have used our vast experience with these treatments to develop methods to minimize any discomfort so that no anaesthetic is usually required. The injection may sting for a few seconds but normal activities can be resumed soon after.
After the injection, it takes 2 -3 days for the treatment to begin taking effect and about 7 days to see the full effect. The dose recommended for the treatment will vary depending on your individual situation and the severity of your lines. Dr Hodgkinson and his staff will know what the best dose is for you and which muscles to inject to give you the best results.
How long does wrinkle relaxation treatment last?
The effect can last up to 4 months before lines slowly begin to return. If you have repeat anti-wrinkle treatments, the effect tends to last longer.
Does wrinkle relaxation treatment cause more wrinkles to form?
The treatment will relax the facial muscles that cause expression lines. It does not cause more wrinkles to form. If you choose not to have further treatments your muscles will eventually return to normal activity and your wrinkles will gradually revert to their pre-treatment levels.
Will facial expression be affected by wrinkle relaxation treatment?
The treatment works specifically on the muscles treated. This means that any muscle left untreated, including untreated facial muscles, should not be affected by the treatment. Dr Hodgkinson or one of the nurses will determine the best dose for you and which muscles to inject to give you the best results.
Are there any side effects?
In addition to its use for cosmetic reasons, the product used in wrinkle relaxation treatment is also used to treat patients in a variety of therapeutic indications including cerebral palsy in children, movement disorders (head, neck, shoulder, face), and axillary hyperhidrosis (excessive underarm sweating).
In the amounts used for the treatment of upper facial lines, the side effects are usually temporary and localised to the area of injection. Possible side effects include headaches, pain, burning/stinging, bruising, swelling or redness at the injection site, local muscle weakness including drooping eyelids/eyebrows, swollen eyelids, skin tightness, tingling sensations, itichiness, nausea and flu like symptoms.
How long has wrinkle relaxation treatment been used?
The treatment has been used in Australia and New Zealand in therapeutic treatments for over 15 years. It was first approved for use in Australia for movement disorders (eye & face) in 1993 and for eye spasms and crossed eyes in New Zealand in 1991.
Can wrinkle relaxation be combined with other products and procedures?
Absolutely. To get the desired result other non-surgical treatments such as injectible fillers, Thermage® or microdermabrasion may be used a combination with wrinkle relaxation treatment. The team at the Cosmetic & Restorative Surgery Clinic will advise you as to whether or not you will receive better results if your treatment is combined with other products and/or procedures.
Absolutely, if performed by a qualified and experienced doctor. The television show Body Work recently demonstrated anti-wrinkle injections both to smooth and soften lunes and folds as well as injectable fillers to enhance lips. The areas usually addressed are the frown lines between the eyebrows, then horizontal lines in the forehead and the crows feet around the side of the eyes.
Folds most commonly softened are those around the mouth. These injections are highly popular as they can be performed in a matter of minutes and either instantly or within a few days the patient has a benefit which lasts for a number of months. Note: the injectables used for these procedures can only be ordered by a doctor, and the manufacturers and the medical community do not endorse in a party environment.
We have a number of excellent ways of plumping out your lips. Even if your lips are not necessarily thin we can enhance the way they look either temporarily or permanently and with the trend towards cosmetic dentistry, enhancing the lips can make the smile even more attractive.
There is a range of injectable fillers available for a temporary result. The newest one normally lasts longer than collagen, which has been used for more than 20 years. For more permanent enhancement, I use either a dermal fat graft or the patient’s own fat (usually drawn from the abdomen or inner thigh).
