More little lives changed by Operation Restore Hope’s Latest Mission

Operation Restore Hope Australia (ORHA), the charity founded by Dr Hodgkinson 25 years ago, recently completed a very successful surgical mission in Las Piñas in Metro Manila where 64% of the patients were 1 year and under!  More than 40 surgeries were carried out for children with cleft lip and palate giving them a life changing surgical repair of their facial deformities.

You can see what happened behind the scenes are our mission by watching this short video.

ORHA also reviewed over 30 children with complex facial deformities which are unsuitable to be cared for in a mission environment as they require ongoing care and access to surgical teams that include not only plastic but neuro-surgeons and other allied health professionals such as craniofacial specialists, orthodontists etc.  ORHA collaborates with and financially supports the Mijares Gurango Craniofacial Foundation which works at the the Philippine Children’s Medical Center (PCMC) to carry out these difficult cases.

Many thanks to our volunteer nurses, surgeons, anaesthetists and administrators and a special thanks to the Filipino surgeons and nurses who give their valuable time and skills to Operation Restore Hope to perform these complex surgical operations. Here is a short video of a few of the highlights of our screening day with our very special children at PCMC.
