Is it vain to get plastic surgery?

Some people would say that it is vanity to get plastic surgery in Sydney and criticize others who get plastic surgery considering it vain.  Certainly, there are some patients who are narcissistic who do seek plastic surgery to change what is essentially a normal facial feature. However, this represents the absolute minority.  The majority of patients seeking plastic surgery are not vain but are understandably concerned about facial or body features that they have no control over.  For example, breasts that are too large, breasts that are asymmetrical, a nose that is twisted, and one cannot breathe correctly through one’s nose, a child born with a cleft lip who has a distortion due to scarring, or ears that unduly protrude from the skull.

The vast majority of patients are not vain but are seeking to improve their life and fortunately, plastic surgeons for the last 400 years have sought to improve on nature or what misfortune has taken away or given in excess.
