Dr Hodgkinson Invited Guest Speaker for Philippines National Volunteer Month
Dr Hodgkinson was the invited guest speaker at The Consulate General of the Republic of the Philippines in Sydney for National Volunteers Month. The theme for this year’s Volunteer’s Month was “Volunteer for Sustainable & Inclusive Development”. At the gathering Dr Hodgkinson was given a Certificate of Appreciation by the Consul General Anne Jalando-On Louis.
Dr Hodgkinson’s spoke about Operation Restore Hope, the charity he founded over 20 years ago to care for less fortunate children in the Philippines with cleft lip and palate. To date Operation Restore Hope has operated on more than 2,500 children in the Philippines who without charitable intervention would have gone unaided. He also spoke about the critical role that collaboration with its Filipino partners plays both in the Philippines and here in Australia to make this work possible. He emphasised that it is only through these collaborations that the charity can provide optimal outcomes on the ground that can be sustained in the long term.
